Dear Editor,The knotty question of compensating states of their due in GST compensation has no solution in sight. In the meantime, the Central government has allowed some states to raise loans from the market to meet their revenue shortfall. This is nothing but highhandedness of the worst order as the Centre has to treat all states irrespective of their party affiliations equally and cannot be seen as partisan if cooperative federalism is to be nurtured and made stronger. The Central Government’s big brother attitude is all the more puzzling as it cannot leave the states gasping for funds as it has to keep all citizens’ interests in its mind.Neha Jamal,Punjab.
