Dear Editor,Through the medium of your esteemed paper, I would like to bring to the kind notice of Chief Engineer PHE that for the last about a year, the residents are not getting drinking water at Durga Nagar. Repeated requests to the concerned officials have yielded no results.I arrange 3-4 tankers of water in consideration of Rs. 500 each every month for meeting water-related needs and in this way about Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 is spent by me every month for getting water. The receipts of payments made are with me.A simple request is that the concerned PHE engineers, who are duty bound to supply water as per agreement and have failed to perform their duties efficiently, should be punished suitably and the quantum of amount spent by general public should be re-reimbursed to them. It is known to all that water is very essential and nobody can live without it.I was told that some road is under construction in the area, as a result of which the pipes are not in a position to fetch water as per requirement of people. If it is so, it becomes duty of department to arrange supply of water through tankers so the people don’t face any inconvenience. I hope the authorities will take remedial measures to ensure regular supply of water daily.Ram Saroop Sharma, Headmaster (Retd),Durga Nagar Sector No. 1, Lane No. 3,Jammu.
