Drug peddler arrested, contraband substance recovered

SRINAGAR: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Awantipora has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Batpora crossing intercepted a person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, resident of Beighpora, Awantipora. During search, 10 Kg Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot and shifted to Police Station Awantipora, where he remained under custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 125/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
