State Times News KATHUA: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) district Kathua hailed the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in which the BJP led Central Government clinched the most tangled issue of Jammu and Kashmir State with one stroke abrogating Art 370 of the Indian Constitution and creating two Union Territories for fast track solutions of the problems of J and K. President of JKSAC Kathua Bhushan Sharma said that the politicians of the State had been creating number of issues out of this issue and stalling the solution of many important issues including the one of DPs of 1947 whose four generations continued to suffer till date. He said that DPs of 1947 from PoK were discriminated and victimized and were deprived of their legitimate rehabilitation under the garb of aforesaid Article and constitution of erstwhile J&K state which gave legal shelter to people who went to Pakistan willingly from this side of J&K. “Besides, under the State’s constitutional protection, successive valley centric governments, framed additional new laws and policies with the result that the people who were thrown out of PoK by armed tribals were neglected, discriminated and deprived of their legitimate adequate rehabilitation to weaken them educationally, economically and politically. They were denied of their constitutional share of assembly seats to represent their aspirations in the state legislature with the result that issues concerning their rehabilitations were derailed and never projected in the right perspective resulting in the suffering of DPs. He further said that repealing of Article 370 and announcement of J&K as Union Territory has carved out a way for DPs permanent settlement as it is now responsibility of the central government, to resolve their issues and mitigate their sufferings in accordance with the JPC report on Home Affairs as the J&K has fully and constitutionally integrated with India. He said that onus now lies with the J&K UT’s BJP leadership particularly both the MPs from Jammu region to take up the DPs issues with the incumbent Government on priority with seniority and stress upon the government to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for adequate resolution of the decades old DPs rehabilitation problems. He made a humble appeal to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to once again show their strong will to settle the long pending issue of DPs as per the JPC report to safeguard the future and legitimate aspirations of their coming generations.
