Dear Editor,It has been reported that the disengagement process has started with the withdrawal of troops by the Indian army and People’s Liberation Army in Galwan after three rounds of meetings between senior military commanders from both the sides. The visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Leh and Ladakh has salutary effect in the attempt to diffuse the stand-off. It is not surprising if Pakistan had joined hands with China in the fight against India. What is surprising is that China stooped to the level of enlisting the support of terrorists to take on India. It is no secret that Pakistan is not only a supporter of terrorists and terrorism but also a haven for terrorists. It is also a fact that Pakistan is also a victim of terrorism. But Pakistan will never realise that the fire spread to the neighbouring area may engulf its area also. Fuelling the fire of terrorism has backfired at Pakistan on many occasions in the recent and long past. Now China is under compulsion to backtrack. It has been slowly realising that its enemy countries will take advantage of the situation emerging from the provocative action of China against India. China has admitted that the US has sent ships to South China Sea (SCS) to flex its muscles. It has accused the US of driving a wedge between the countries in the region. This accusation has no substance because it is China which provoked India and was responsible for blood-shed on June 15. When provocative actions are taken, it is natural that the other side will also get prepared to fight the situation as it comes. Two US Navy aircrafts are conducting exercises in the contested SCS within sight of Chinese naval vessels spotted near the flotilla. Provocative action by China is nothing but testing the pulse of Indian army as a prelude to wage a conventional war to usurp Indian territories and make additions to its own. The insatiable desire for expansion of territories by China is being seen by the world. In any case the withdrawal of troops from both the sides is a welcome step which people of both the countries hopefully welcome.K.V. Seetharamaiah,Via-e-mail.
