STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Cultural Wing Jammu in collaboration with District Information Center Udhampur today organized a symposium on “Drug de-addiction” at Indira Memorial Higher Secondary School Rathian, Battal Ballian Udhampur. Principal of the Institute, Kamlesh Sharma, was the chief guest on the occasion. As many as, 10 participants of the host school participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the vital issue. Usma of 9th class was declared best speaker while Usman of class 9th and Anshika Sharma of 8thclass secured second and third position respectively. While addressing the students, the chief guest stressed the need for sensitizing the people about the ill effects of drug addiction, adding that the students have to play a pivotal role to curb this menace. She appreciated the efforts of Information Department for creating awareness through such events and urged the Department to hold such more events in future. Artists of Cultural wing DIPR Jammu and students of the host school presented theme based scintillating cultural programmes and skits. Satpal Singh, Sunil Bogal and Sushil Sharma acted as judges during the contest while Senior Artist of Information Department Suresh Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme. Later, the chief guest distributed prizes and merit certificates among the participants. Senior artists of DIPRs, staff members of the host institution and large number of students were present on the occasion.
