Defunct traffic lights at Kunjwani Chowk

Ever busy Kunjwani Chowk, which is the entry point for all inter-district and inter-state buses to Jammu, is not only congested but traffic lights installed here are mostly non-functional. Traffic signals are supposed to streamline the vehicular movement in the area, but it has created a mess at Kunjwani Chowk.
The Chowk is one of the most frequented points along the National Highway- 1A which is a main link to the city. Mini-buses, trucks and long route buses are usually seen making sudden stoppage just in the middle of the Chowk. Mishaps are reported here every now and then but the Traffic Police and other agencies concerned have not taken any serious note of the worsening situation.
Pedestrians have to remain extra vigilant while passing through the area, as there is no underground or overhead pass-ways. Long traffic jams, rashly driven buses and other heavy vehicles is a common scene at Kunjwani.
It becomes very difficult to drive here during the evening hours and at night in absence of traffic lights or street lights. It’s all dark during late evening and at night and one has to drive at his own risk. High speed buses and other heavy vehicles can be seen driven recklessly as there is no proper lighting system or any other mechanism to regulate traffic.
Through your esteemed daily, I would request the Traffic department to depute a cop here to regulate traffic so that people can drive safely besides making functional defunct street-lights at the earliest.
