KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara on Wednesday reviewed performance under flagship Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Programme in the district, here at a meeting with various departmental Heads.
He passed many substantial directions for securing tangible results.
Additional Deputy Commissioner , Pawan Parihar; Chief Education Officer, Dr. Kuldip Kumar Sharma; Nodal Officer BBBP, Anoop Kumar; Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat; DSWO, Tariq Pervaz; DYSSO Khariti Lal Sharma, besides Project Officer ICDS, besides Principals of various collages and other educational institutions attended the meeting.
The DDC directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tesildars and Nodal Officer BBBP to organize district level task force meetings and Block level Task Force Meeting once in a month, respectively and take measurable steps to sensitize the people about the benefits of the scheme.
The Chief Education Officer and the Principals of various educational colleges were directed to undertake a comprehensive set of activities under BBBP programme including formation of women parliament and girl council, identification of best performing School Management Committee for award at district level, creation of Balika Manch in each school, campaign for re-enrolment of drop out girls, making BBBP pledge compulsory in morning assembly in each school, Display of gender ratio outside every class room, appointment of BBBP ambassador in every class, Installation of sanitary Napkin vending machines at Government Girls Higher Secondary schools, distribution of motivational books among the girl students, organizing Nukad Natak and wall painting inside and outside of the school premises and other institutions, conducting felicitation programs for topper girl students, hosting career counseling session for girls , organsing exposure tour for them and many more. He further said that education department needs to act act as the backbone of the society in disseminating awareness among youth and hence can play vital role in the progress of BBBP programme.
He directed the authorities of Health Department for taking concrete measures to check declining sex ratio. He directed the Department to ensure the enforcement of PC&PNDT and MTP Act in letter and spirit. He stressed upon the medical authorities to conduct decoy operations along with police department and award to whistle blowers. He urged for the formation of district inspection and monitoring committee for conducting frequent inspections at the Ultra sound centres to censor the sex determination test which are the main reason of declining the sex ratio,
The Rural Development Department and Urban Development Department were directed to organize felicitation of women sarpanchs and ward members on the international women day (March 8) at block headquarter and special gramsbhas on BBBP programme on March 24 at Panchayat level.
He also directed the Urban Development Department to install two LCDs in the city to showcase various messages of BBBP.
Senior Superintendent of Police was asked to organize gender sensitization workshop for police officers and policemen on BBBP. The DDC further asked the SSP to make frequent inspection of the hospitals and private clinic to check any vio
