STATE TIMES NEWSRAJOURI: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, on Friday inspected major development works to review progress on these vital works being executed in Rajouri Town. The DDC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria, Executive Engineer PWD, Mohd Zubair, District Panchayat Officer, Dr Abdul Khabir and other concerned officers of PWD and RDD. The DDC inspected the progress on sport stadium Kheora, construction of double lane Abdulah bridge, circular road, Hamilton bridge, old Bus Stand Rajouri and Model Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri. During the visit of Sports Complex, the Executive Engineer informed the DDC that the work on indoor and outdoor stadium, being raised with an estimated cost of Rs. 5.64 crore under languishing projects, is in progress and will be completed within this month. DDC fixed deadline of one week for completion of outdoor stadium. The DDC also inspected the status of work on double lane Abdullah bridge, being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs.4.78 crore, which connects Gujjar Mandi with the old bus stand Rajouri. He asked the concerned executing agency to start the work on the double lane Abdullah bridge within five days. The DDC took stock of progress on circular road, an important alternate link within the town connecting New bridge to Tariq bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometers. The DDC also paid a visit to Old Bus Stand Rajouri and took stock of works under execution. He directed the PWD authorities to mobilise their men and machinery and make sure that the work is completed within specified time limit. The DDC also inspected the progress of work on Rs. 3.99 crore Hamilton bridge which is a major bridge of Rajouri town connecting main Rajouri town with other areas like Manjakote and acts as an alternate route. It was informed that the work on the bridge is complete and it will be thrown open for traffic soon. DDC also took stock of progress work on construction of big Boys model Higher secondary school Rajouri, the project has been approved under languishing scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.90 crore.
