STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A 63-year-old patient, in an advanced stage of ovarian cancer, had been fighting with cancer and was waiting for surgery. The patient was diagnosed before COVID-19 pandemic and was put on neo adjuvant chemotherapy for three cycles but her surgery was postponed due to COVID. Keeping her condition in mind, the Oncology team at Bee Enn General Hospital (BEGH) decided to operate and patient underwent cytoreductive Surgery. A team of Surgeons comprising Dr Samita Bhatt, Dr Gurpreet Singh and Anesthesia team led by Dr Vikas Gupta and expert Theatre staff performed the complex procedure which lasted over 5 hours. The patient was thereafter in ICU care for 3 days and was satisfactorily discharged later. Inspite of her associated comorbid condition and fear of COVID-19, the patient had an uneventful course intra-operative and post-operative. Bee Enn General Hospital continued to work in COVID-19, when elective cases considering non emergency are generally being temporarily postponed at most of the centres.
