STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir mounted to 8,429 on Sunday after 183 fresh infections were detected, while the death toll in the Union Territory reached 132 following the demise of five patients over the past 24 hours, officials said. The five fatalities were reported from Kashmir, they said. Of 132 deaths, 14 are from Jammu province and 118 were from Kashmir division, the officials said. At present, there are 3,042 active cases in the Union Territory, while a total of 5,255 patients have recovered from the infection. Fifty-one fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from the Jammu region, 132 were reported from the Kashmir Valley, the officials said. The fresh cases detected on Sunday include 32 people who had returned to the Union Territory recently.
Srinagar district in central Kashmir recorded a maximum of 59 cases on Sunday, followed by 20 in Kupwara district in the north. Three districts – Poonch, Reasi and Kishtwar — did not have any fresh case in the past 24 hours. The total number of infected persons in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 8,429. “Of these, 6,656 are in Kashmir, while 1,773 are in the Jammu region,” the officials said.
18 more Pepsi employees turn positive, tally reaches 21 JAMMU: Eighteen more employees of Pepsi factory situated at Bari Brahmana have tested positive on Sunday, thus taking the tally to 21. As per the details, on June 30 an employee of Pepsi factory was found corona positive after which all the employees were quarantined inside the factory. Samples of all the employees were taken and on Sunday, test reports of 18 more employees confirmed them to be positive for the infection thus taking tally to 21. Reports of over 350 employees are still pending. On Saturday, an employee of Pepsi factory and his daughter were tested positive after which administration shut the factory and supply also. Police has registered FIR against hotel Mango (paid quarantine centre) for lodging a Pepsi factory employee without DM’s permission.
According to daily Media Bulletin, till date 2,96,591 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,149 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 42 in Hospital Quarantine, 3,042 in hospital isolation and 45,780 under home surveillance. Besides, 2,07,446 persons have completed their surveillance period. Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 307 positive cases (including four cases reported today) with 25 Active Positive, 279 recovered (including five cases recovered today) and three death; Srinagar has 1151 positive cases (including 59 cases reported today) with 697 Active Positive, 423 recovered, 31 deaths; Anantnag district has 720 positive cases (including three cases reported today), with 145 Active Positive, 564 recovered (including 10 cases reported today), 11 deaths; Baramulla has 1023 positive cases (including 17 cases reported today) with 561 Active Positive, 439 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 23 deaths; Shopian has 849 positive cases (including one case reported today) with 225 Active Positive, 611 recovered and 13 deaths; Kupwara has 604 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 168 Active Positive, 429 recovered (including 11 cases recovered today) and seven deaths; Budgam has 486 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today) with 203 Active Positive and 274 recovered cases (including 33 cases recovered today) and nine deaths; Ganderbal has 119 positive cases (including one case reported today) with 44 active positive cases and 74 recoveries (including 12 cases reported today) and one death; Kulgam has 859 positive cases (including four cases reported today), with 245 Active Positive and 598 recoveries and 16 deaths and Pulwama reported 538 positive cases (including four cases reported today) with 267 active positive cases and 267 recovered and four deaths. Similarly, Jammu has 397 positive cases (including nine cases reported today) with 88 active positive cases and 301 recoveries and eight deaths; Udhampur has 290 positive cases (including two cases reported today) with 82 active positive cases, 207 recovered (including 12 cases recovered today) and one death; Samba has 186 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 66 Active Positive and 120 recoveries; Rajouri has 124 positive cases (including two cases reported today) with 55 active positive cases and 68 recovered and one death; Kathua has 249 positive cases (including seven cases reported today) with 60 Active positive and 188 recovered (including 11 recoveries today) and one death; Kishtwar has 29 positive cases with eight active positive cases and 21 recovered; Ramban has 236 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 49 active positive and 187 recoveries ; Reasi has 45 positive cases with 13 active positive and 32 recovered; Poonch has 124 positive cases with 10 active positive and 113 recoveries and one death while Doda has 93 positive cases (including three cases reported today) with 31 active positive cases and 60 recoveries and two deaths. According to the bulletin, of the total 8,429 positive cases in J&K 2,481 have been reported as travelers while 5,948 as others.
