STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Additional Sessions Judge Anatnag Khalil Ahmad Choudhary on Saturday awarded life-imprisonment and fine Rs 1 lakh to Nasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Jaibal Veeri Bijbehara, who was facing trial in case regarding murder of teenager. According to the police case, FIR No.08/2014 was registered in Police Station Anantnag under Section 302 RPC. From the pocket of the deceased admission receipt of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bijbehara was recovered, whereby her identity was ascertained as Iqra Nisar, daughter of Nisar Ahmad Khan, resident of Ladibal, Bijbehara. During the course of investigation, statements of witnesses were recorded and offence under Section 302 RPC was found to have been committed. Subsequently, the accused was taken into custody under Section 54 CrPC for preliminary investigation and was formally arrested on February 3, 2014. During questioning, accused confessed that he took the deceased from BFI Coaching Centre and from FM Gali near STD, both accused and deceased reached Chee Darapora where he strangulated her and tied her neck with a tree by Dupatta. He also disclosed that he took school bag of the deceased and threw it in a river at Anchidora. After hearing both the sides, the court observed that the motive behind the murder indicate that it would not fall within the rare category of the cases. “The convict does not have any previous criminal record so keeping in view his age, the manner in which the murder was committed by him and all other factors, I am of the view that he does not deserve the extreme penalty of death. So, taking all the factors in view, accused while being convicted under Section 302 RPC is sentenced to simple imprisonment for life and fine of Rs 1 lakh for commission of the offence under Section 302 RPC”, the court held.
