STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Three days course on ‘Human Rights and Criminal Justice System’ which commenced on February 19, 2020 concluded on Saturday at SKPA Udhampur in which police officers from various units participated. Dr. S.D Singh, Director SKPA was the Chief Guest on the occasion who in his valedictory address said that the Course was important in nature in which Academy has ensured all its possible efforts to arrange faculty from other reputed institutes and the logistic support as well. He said that the Human Rights as enshrined in Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Fundamental Rights are the foundation of Universal peace of all humans. He also appreciated the role of eminent speakers i.e Dr. Mahesh Kaul, Post Doctoral Fellow Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) New Delhi, Dr. Savita Nayyar, Department of Law University of Jammu, Sheikh Shakeel, Advocate J&K High court Jammu and Kameshwar Puri, DySP, SO to DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range who spared their valuable time and delivered lectures on topics concerning Human dignity, life, liberty & security, the role of Police in upholding rights of accused in the matters of arrest, detention and custody. There were also deliberations on various Human Right Treaties viz. UDHR, BPPU, ICCPR, CAT, CCLEO. Dr. S.D Singh accompanied by Suraj Singh, Dy.SP(R&D), Ramesh Chander Kataria, DySP, Tahir Hussain, DySP (Admn.) and Kuldeep Kumar, Dy.SP.
