STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Ashok Kumar, former MLA and senior Congress leader has urged upon the government of Jammu and Kashmir that free essential ration (food items) should be provided to all the deserving poor people of Jammu and Kashmir who are facing ration shortage due to non-availability of menial jobs under the prolonged lock down (COVID-19). In a statement here, he said some poor people’s name have been deleted from the original list due to technical problems and loopholes in the system. These people also have equal rights to obtain free ration from the CAPD authorities working under the government. Ashok further said that for two months of April and May free essential food items should be given to these suffering citizens of our country under the lock down in advance as they are facing food crisis due to non availability of daily small scale jobs due the Covid-19 pandemic lock down. Ashok also stressed to government that free essential medicines for elderly citizens should also be provided, especially for the people who are suffering from severe diseases. Many elderly and others people are facing difficulty in obtaining such medicines because their stock is only available either in Jammu or Srinagar but not in far flung areas. He also demanded for urgent supply of personal protection equipments (PPEs) to workers, paramedical staffs and others who are fighting day and night against COVID-19 disease in remote areas.
