STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Government on Monday constituted a committee for devising the modalities for functioning of proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The committee will be headed by Advisor (S) to Governor as its chairman while Financial Commissioner, Finance Department; Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department; Financial Commissioner with Governor; Principal Secretary, Home Department; Principal Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department; Commissioner/ Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department; Commissioner/ Secretary, Ladakh Affairs Department; Secretary, General Administration Department; Secretary, Higher Education Department; Secretary, Revenue Department; and Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will be its members, the GAD order stated. “The Committee shall take steps for transition from State to proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by various Departments and conduct of government business in the proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads the order. “The Committee shall be serviced by the General Administration Department,” it added. Meanwhile, the Government also constituted a committee to deal with the financial matters in the proposed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The committee will be headed by Financial Commissioner, Finance Department as its chairman while Principal Secretary, Home Department; Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department; Secretary, General Administration Department; and Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will be its members, another order by GAD stated. “The committee shall decide about realization and distribution of funds and other related issues concerning the proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh under both Revenue and Capex components,” reads the order. “The Committee shall be serviced by the Finance Department,” it added. The Government also constituted a committee to deal with the staff related issues in the proposed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The committee will be headed by Principal Secretary, Home Department as its chairman while Commissioner Secretary, Ladakh Affairs Department; Secretary, General Administration Department; Secretary, Culture Department; Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; and Representative of the finance department will be its members, another order in this regard by GAD stated. “The Committee shall suggest measures to be taken for providing staff to the proposed Union Territory of Ladakh and any other issues relating to staff of proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads the order. “The Committee shall be serviced by the General Administration Department,” it added.
