City Club wins 32nd District Udhampur Volleyball Championship

UDHAMPUR: City Volleyball Club defeated Udhampur Volleyball Club after the tough fight in the final and won 32nd open District Volleyball Championship organised by Volleyball Association of District Udhampur (VADU) under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Mini Stadium, here on Friday. In the final, City Volleyball Club outplayed Udhampur Club by 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19).
In the valedictory-cum-prize distribution function, Mohd Khalid Khan, Commandant 137 Bn CRPF Udhampur was the Chief Guest while Shaktish Chopra, Manager District Sports Council was the Guest of Honour.
Earlier, the finalist teams were introduced to Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by VADU President Raj Guru.
The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the district president and other members of VADU for organising such event in order to explore and develop sportsmen spirit among the youths. He expressed that sports not only pave the way for coordination but also strengthen the bond of brotherhood. He stated that sports divert the energy of youth to right direction and keep them away from drugs. He also congratulated the players of winner and runner-up teams for exhibiting their sportsmanship.
Today’s matches were officiated by Kuldeep Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Sandeep Kumar and Rajesh Kumar.
Later, Chief Guest distributed the trophies among winner and runner-up teams and to best performers.
Prominent persons present were Second-in-Command 137 Bn CRPF Tajinder Kour, Roshan Lal, Santosh Kumari ZPEO, Punam Sharma ZPEO, Som Raj Jib, International weightlifter Mukhtar Singh, Mohd Tariq Fancing player, Advocate Sanjeet Bavouria, Yovraj singh, Bhim Sein, Suresh Khajuria, Tanveer Sheikh and Dalwinder Singh Hockey coach.
