JAMMU: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has decided to stop paying all sorts of taxes to the State Government in the near future if it does not address their genuine demands soon.
Due to total refusal by the Finance Minister in the budget announced for addressing our demands, the CCI President, Rakesh Gupta told reporters that chamber announces total non-cooperation to all the departments like Commercial taxes, provident fund, labour etc.
Rakesh instructed all its members and affiliated associations not to entertain any officers or inspectors from these departments visiting their premises.
Gupta said that government adopts non-serious attitude towards the genuine demands of Jammu region which include delay in completion of the sanctioned projects like ISBT at bus stand, development of Mubarak Mandi complex, Gandola and artificial lake.
He further said that other demands included sanctioning of AIIMS at Jammu and construction of flyover at BC Road and also exemption of passenger vehicles from paying toll at Bantalab Nagrota which has been shelved because of political reasons.
He said CCI decided to form an umbrella of civil society which shall include eminent and people of integrity from all walks of life and various trade, industry/transport associations, social organizations and also include non political students union.
Rakesh invited all those who want to join this umbrella ‘Fight for Jammu’ which CCI feels shall be final battle for their fundamental rights.
