STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Junior Assistant working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, District Rajouri for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 22,500 from the father of the complainant.An FIR was registered on a complaint against Shadab Chowdhary, Junior Assistant / Control Clerk working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, District Rajouri under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the allegations that he demanded bribe of Rs 22,500 (30 per cent of commission amount) for crediting carriage and commission amount of Rs.75,419 in the account of complainant’s father (a ration dealer in Manjakote, Rajouri for supply of food items under PDS).
After credit of said amount, Shadab Chowdhary, Junior Assistant was pressurising the complainant and his father for payment of bribe.CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 22,500. Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused.The ACB sleuths have seized some documents from his residence for further investigation.
