JAMMU: The State Cabinet is likely to meet on Monday to take call on appointment of new Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, Financial Commissioner Revenue Arun Kumar and Principal Secretary Planning Department B R Sharma are under the consideration zone of government with ruling partners PDP and BJP weighing all aspects involved in the crucial appointment before arriving at a consensus.
While 1979-batch IAS officer Kumar is the senior-most bureaucrat in J&K cadre, the 1984-batch IAS officer Sharma figures at serial number 5. In between are Sonali Kumar, Chairperson J&K Special Tribunal, AK Angurana, currently on central deputation and Khursheed A Ganai, Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce. Except for Angurana, the other officers are attaining superannuation in November and October respectively.
Hectic lobbying has begun in Srinagar as all eyes are on the Chief Minister to take a final call.
