STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Taking a serious cognizance of the complaint regarding repeated misbehaviour with a chronically ill patient, the Principal Government Medical College Jammu Dr. Nasib Chand Digra placed under suspension Rakesh Kumar, Theater Assistant presently working as Storekeeper in Blood Bank of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu vide his office order number GMC/20/Inq/B.Bank/856 on Tuesday.The Principal also constituted a three-member committee vide order number GMC/20/Order/Inq./Comm./857 under the chairmanship of Dr. Sanjeev Digra, Professor, Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, Jammu with Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma and Kulbhushan Kumar as its members to probe the misconduct. The committee was directed to submit its report within three days for further action against the delinquent employee.The action was taken after the matter was reported by HoD Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu Dr. Meena Sidhu and Medical Superintendent (MS), SMGS Hospital Jammu to Principal GMC Jammu that the storekeeper misbehaved with the attendant of a Thalessemic patient who wants to transfuse Leuodepleted AB +ve unit blood for her daughter on August 8, 2020.It is relevant to mention here that the patient is regularly getting Leucodepleted AB +ve blood from Blood Bank of SMGS Hospital for last about nine years but on August 8, 2020 the storekeeper refused and provided normal packed cells which the father of the patient refused to get it transfused.Reacting on this, the storekeeper started misbehaving with him and shouted loudly. Later, the attendant represented his problem with MS SMGS who tried to settle the matter.Felling dejected with the misbehaviour of storekeeper, the attendant took help of social media to highlight the problem and as a result of which, the HoD Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu reached the spot where the Blood Bank officials and volunteers also complained about the misbehaviour of the storekeeper with attendants of the patients.After coming through the facts, the HoD recommended appropriate action against the storekeeper.
