STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Taking strong note of an audio-clip of Waqar Rasool Wani, ex-MLA Banihal, which was sent by him in various social-media groups for voters of erstwhile Doda region, in which Wani was campaigning in favour of Congress candidate, Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency on the date of polling i.e., April 18, 2019. In a complaint filed by BJP through Liaison team members with election authorities, Advocates Parimoksh Seth and Hunar Gupta, BJP has requested the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral of J&K to take action against Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha; Waqar Rasool Wani, ex-MLA Banihal and Vikramaditya Singh, Congress candidate for registration of FIR for violation of Model Code of Conduct as Waqar Rasool Wani was not only campaigning on the day of voting in sheer violation of Model Code of Conduct but also directing voters of a particular religion and region to come out and cast their vote in favour of Congress candidate on communal lines. In the audio message, Wani is heard saying that Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is campaigning in Kerala, called him up and directed him to appeal to voters of erstwhile Doda region, belonging to particular community, to cast their vote on communal lines. BJP, in a written complaint, has called upon the Election Commission to take appropriate action under rules and regulations governing the Model Code of Conduct and relevant provisions of RPC by registering FIR against Azad, Wani and Vikramaditya. A copy of audio message has also been provided to the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu. Parimoksh and Hunar further demanded that Azad should be debarred from campaigning for Congress in the country. It was also brought to the notice of Election Commission of India that despite earlier complaints filed against Waqar Rasool Wani and Indira Bhalla, wife of Rama Bhalla for violation of Model Code of Conduct and asking for votes on communal lines, no action has been taken till date against aforesaid persons.
