JAMMU: The onset of Rabi season and end of Kharif-2020 season has brought a big relief to farmers of Jammu District during pandemic of COVID-19 proving as a big boon for suffering farming community.As per an official handout, with timely initiative and interventions of Navin Kumar Choudhary IAS, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production & Farmer welfare Department the timely supply of inputs to farmers was ensured. Besides, 9 Paddy Procurement Mandis have also been set up at different places of Jammu District with the initiative of Agriculture Production & Farmer Welfare Department.It is for the first time that farmers are getting payment through DBT within 3 days of procurement. Till date, a sum of about Rs 10,25,174 have been transferred in account of farmers and about 7,322 quintals of paddy have been procured till date.
