Bhalla said that Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after abrogation of Articles 370 & 35-A, had assured people of erstwhile J&K State that the move will pave way for overall development of people. The first development which came into force was reducing the status of State into two UTs viz J&K & Ladakh, followed by second development which was reducing 4G internet services to 2G, citing security reason, he said adding that another announcement for covering 15 lakh families under Universal health Insurance scheme under Ayushman Bharat, was also shelved due to COVID-19 outbreak and now gifting two new toll plazas to Jammu.Opposing the installation of Toll Plazas in Jammu, Bhalla said that do we need to see only Toll Plazas in Jammu as a symbol of development? Are they protecting Jammu’s right with the installation of Toll Plazas? Don’t they know any other means for welfare of Jammuities,” Bhalla said while attacking the BJP. He appealed to the Government of India to restore statehood to J&K and resumption of 4G internet service in J&K.Demanding an economic package for J&K, he said Govt must take care of labourers, shopkeepers, industrialists, traders and people who are associated with Tourism industry and other sectors, who have been worst hit due to the Covid19. “The main source of earning of J&K was tourism and religious tourism. But hotels are empty and the employees there are sitting idle. The government should waive off electricity bills to these sectors instead of deferment of loan which is not a concession,” he said.
