State Times newsPOONCH: The famous ‘Chhari Yatra’ associated with Bhagwan Shiv reached Budha Amarnath temple in Mandi, Poonch on Saturday with a cavalcade of Sadhus and devotees. ‘Chhari Yatra’ or ‘Chhari Mubarak’ is the annual journey of Bhagwan Shiv’s holy mace to the cave shrine. The historic Chhari Yatra was taken out with great pomp and religious fervour from Dashnami Akhara. This year, the Yatra witnessed participation of very few devotees & Sadhus due to prevailing situation of COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in morning, the Chhari Yatra commenced with traditional ‘Chhari Pujan’ amidst chanting Mantras and Bhajans at Akhara Mandir by Atal Pithadishwar Rajguru Acharya Mahamandleshwar Shri Shri 1008 Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Maharaj, the head priest of Dashnami Akhara, and thereafter proceeded towards Budha Amarnath temple accompanied by few devotees. Before leaving for Baba Budha Amarnath, the Chhari Mubarak was accorded formal guard of honour in front gate of Dashnami Akhara, after which the Yatra led by Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati left for Budha Amarnath accompanied by very less pilgrims chanting Har Har Mahadev, Bam Bam Bhole amidst tight security. The Chhari Yatra was welcomed at Budha Amarnath Shrine by the Committee members followed by Chhari Pujan in the temple. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati said that due to COVID-19, the Holy Chhari was taken out with as per instructions given by local administration and all the functions were performed amidst maintaining strict social distancing norms. He expressed gratitude towards everyone for their cooperation in smooth conduct of Yatra and appealed to the residents of the areas to follow social distancing norms and all other guidelines issued by the local administration as well as central government from time to time to combat COVID-19. DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav, DIG Rajouri Poonch Vivak Gupta and SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral along with security personnel also participated in the Yatra.
