STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: For upliftment of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) unemployed youth of UT of J&K, Balbir Ram Rattan, BJP Spokesperson & former Vice Chairperson of J&K SC, ST, BC Development Corporation, along with BJP senior leader Kulbhushan Mohtra, held detailed discussions with the officials of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous institute under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India.The officials namely D. S. Oberoi (Director I/C), Anil Raina and Sarita Kour, both Deputy Directors, appraised the team about various Skill Development Programmes being run at the institute for the past 30 years.The team was appraised specially about the programmes run by Government of India under SCSP/TSP and NCSC for SC/ST schemes for the benefit of unemployed youth.Briefing about one year free ‘O’ Level Computer Course for SC and ST youth, it was told that the applicant must be 10+2 in any stream and possess category certificate besides fulfilling the criteria of being less than 30 years of age adding that there is no fee for the course and any one from the said reserved categories will get rupees one thousand monthly stipend.In the discussion, NIELIT officials indicated all support to the candidates seeking admission in Skill Development Courses through Online and Offline mode. The team visited the various Laboratories including AI Lab, Information Security Lab., Embedded System Lab, Networking Lab. and Bio-medical Labs, which have been set-up by Govt. of India over a period of time.
