Azad’s tenure can be remembered as golden period in J&K: Gharu Ram

JAMMU: Former Minister and Chairman of J&K Kissan Congress, Chaudhary Gharu Ram criticized the BJP-led Government at the Centre for its failure to resolve the sufferings of farmer’s community.
In the meeting held here, the former Minister said that the farmers in J&K have been reeling under the financial and yearly production crisis and the BJP-led Government has not paid any attention towards their miseries.
The former Minister said that the J&K BJP leadership has failed immensely to provide compensation to the farmers who have massive losses of their crop production due to recent flash floods and incessant rains.
“None of the farmers in Jammu have been yet compensated, even damage assessments are yet to be taken by the present regime,” he alleged.
Highlighting the achievements of Congress regime during Ghulam Nabi Azad was the then Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmit state, the former minister said that Azad during his short span of time as Chief Minister has taken some revolutionary measures to bring socio-economic transformation back on the rails in the state.
He said that many historic decisions were taken by the Azad led government for the welfare of the farmers’ community which BJP has failed to provide.
“A Government which is remembered as the golden period of the state as the work done by Azad Government cannot be done and will not be done by any other chief minister,” Gharu Ram said.
The former Minister has also welcomed the appointment of Rajni Patil as AICC General Secretary and In-charge J&K unit and hoped that her appointment will further prove to be better for the welfare of public and the party.
“Congress will achieve news heights in J&K under the supervision of Rajni Patel,” he hoped.
Among others who were present in the meeting include Mohan Lal, District President Jammu, Tarsem Singh Saini, District President Kathua, Ch Sukhdev Singh Convenor J&K, Prabhu Singh, Bachan Singh, Sher Singh, Ch Jeet Singh and others.
