State Times NewsJAMMU: The members of Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ) on Thursday paid rich tributes to martyr students, who sacrificed their lives for safeguarding interests of general category in 1990.Pertinent to mention here that 1990’s anti-Mandal Commission agitation was against implementation of Mandal Commission, in which young students including Rajeev Goswami, Surinder Chouhan and 250 others sacrificed their lives during protests against anti-general category decision of the Government.Speaking on the occasion, President Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu,Ram Pal Seth described martyrs as real epitome of courage, justice and equality. He said that political parties have neither learnt nor realised demerits of caste-based reservations till date and are continuing with the discrimination and anti-general category policies.Madan Lal Narad, General Secretary of Manch alleged that all policies are being framed keeping with an eye on vote-bank and warned all political parties to stop policy of divide and rule. He appealed youth of general category to always remember the sacrifices made by martyr students during anti-Mandal commission agitation and get unite to fight against reservation till it is abolished from the nation.Others present on the occasion included Manmohan Krishan Sharma, B K Sharma, Sahil Seth, K K Sharma, Kewal Sharma and Aaradhya Sharma.
