KISHTWAR: Army organised a mega event for the locals of Kishtwar District : ‘Cultural Fest : 2017’ for the second consecutive year under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’ at the historic Chowgan Ground on Wednesdsay. The fest was an amalgamation of varied cultural programmes highlighting culture of different regions of India and stalls of food, entertainment and games for people of all the age groups to rejoice and cherish. The event also encompassed display of various ethnic specialties from across the country.
About 300 students from various schools of Kishtwar District and other parts of the country participated to showcase their talent and performed folk dances of Kishtwari, Kashmiri, Paddari, Gujarati, Marathi and Rajasthani culture.
The highlights of the event were Rope Malkhamb and Pole Malkhamb by Troupe from Ujjain (M.P), Bharatnatyam by Arundhati from Mumbai, Kathak by Nidhisha from New Delhi, Kishtwari Folk Dance by A.B.N High School and Kashmiri Folk Dance by Neelam Academy, Kishtwar.
The event was graced by over 10,000 locals from Kishtwar District including officials of army, civil administration, police, CAPF and other civil dignitaries.
