STATE TIMES NEWSRAMBAN: Seeing the current situation and number of cases of COVID-19 rising in the country, a need was felt to educate the local population about the menace of the spread of the virus. Army therefore took on the initiative of displaying information banners portraying Do’s and Dont’s during this testing time in Banihal, District Ramban(J&K). Announcements for prevention and precautions against COVID-19 were also made all across the market so that maximum population could be benefited. All across the region many initiatives have also been instituted to generate awareness among the population regarding various preventive measures to be adopted. Many innovative methods for making announcements using loudspeakers and through local Masjids are being employed.
AKHNOOR: As part of the ongoing national efforts, Army undertook an initiative to educate the rural populace through Corona Awareness Drive in the villages of Battal, Seri Palai and Jogwan. Medical teams visited villages and carried out awareness on measures and precautions to prevent spread of the disease. Further, awareness regarding screening and monitoring facilities established at various locations for the civilians was also conveyed. The requirement of not panicking and ensuring social self discipline norms was the key highlight of the Awareness Drive.
RAJOURI: Army has instituted measures to quarantine the troops returning from leave and temporary duties. After the medical screening the troops are being quarantined for a period of 14 days. Troops are kept in earmarked barracks having adequate hygiene and sanitation facilities, maintaining social distancing and undergoing daily medical checkup. These individuals are being kept physically and mentally fit through Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation. The troops are being sensitized about social distancing, proper usage of masks, washing of hands, sanitization of barracks and avoiding sharing of any items. To avoid crowding in Dining halls, meals are being served at staggered timings. While the aim of reinforcing the seriousness with regard to preventive measures against COVID-19 is being achieved, Army personnel are ensuring their own safety through series of precautions as laid down in protocol. To overcome the pandemic of Humanity COVID-19 and to educate the local populace, Indian Army displayed banners highlighting the Do’s and Don’ts at public places in various villages of Poonch and Rajouri Districts. The message of social distancing also encouraged and is being implemented. In addition Mobile Vehicle Check Posts have also been established across the region to educate the transients and restrict unnecessary movement of people. Necessary precautionary steps being put in place along with a host of proactive measures which has been undertaken in close coordination with the civil administration.
