STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH: Poonch Link Up Day is celebrated every year on 22 November with active participation of Army, Civil Administration and local populace to commemorate the historic Link Up of 1948 and the sacrifices made by the soldiers and civilians during the siege of Poonch. This event holds very high value for people of Poonch and is etched in the annals of history in golden letters. To commemorate the historic day, a series of events are planned every year for the school students and locals of Poonch and surrounding areas. As a runup to the main event, a Motivational Tour for girl students of Government Higher Secondary School, Arai and Government High School, Arai (Malkia) of Poonch District was organised from 17 to 19 November 2019. The aim of the tour was to spread the message of peace and harmony and also to make the youth of border / remote areas aware of the rich heritage and cultural grandeur of the area. The students were extremely enthusiastic and excited about their first outing away from home. The students were asked to extract the best out of this opportunity and were motivated to work hard, to bring progress and change in their lives. The Principal applauded the Army for organizing such a tour and creating awareness amongst the students of border areas. He was of the opinion that this tour will leave an everlasting impression on the minds of the students and encourage them to strive hard for a prosperous future.
