STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH/RAJOURI: With an aim to spread awareness on importance of education in the society, Army celebrated “National Education Day” at Government School, Chunga, Kotli, Dera Ki Gali (DKG), Bisali and Youth Centre, Palma in Poonch and Rajouri Districts. On the occasion, a variety of activities were organised to include motivational lectures and essay writing competition. The aim of the event was to educate students on the importance of education and the rights of students. National education is an annual observance in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Abdul Maulana Azad, the first education minister of Independent India. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has decided to commemorate the birth day of this great son of India by recalling his contribution to the cause of education in India and this day will henceforth be celebrated as the National Education Day. Such effort go a long way in energising the young minds in improving the society and in helping the youth to participate in nation building. The locals expressed their desire for more such events to be organised in future.
