JAMMU: Apni Party on Thursday urged the Government to review its decision on the last date for filing objections with regard to the notified seats for District Development Council (DDC) and extend the last in the interest of the people. The Apni Party leaders from across Jammu Division organised a meeting here, which was chaired by Party’s Provincial President Manjit Singh to discuss the situation emerged out of arbitrary decision of Deputy Commissioners by notifying seats for DDC elections. The meeting discussed the pros and cons of the delimitation of DDC seats and termed the decision of the DCs as unjustified in which political parties were not consulted.“There was no consultation nor was any one taken into confidence before making delimitation of the DDC seats which were notified in the news papers. It has created unrest among the people because the process has been decided within the four walls and no one went to get feedback from the people or political parties,” said Manjit Singh and apprehended that it seemed to be an appeasement policy for a political party has been adopted by ignoring other political parties. There is strong resentment against the notified DDC seats across Jammu and there is growing demand to extend the land date for filing objections.“The DCs have notified that October 23 will be the last date for filing objections. It should be extended further for three or more days by providing opportunity to the people to file their objections,” he said. The Apni Party unanimously decided to make a request to the Govt through Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma to review the decision.“We have made a formal request to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to extend the last date of filing objections,” he said.“The administration should not act in a doubtful manner by making such decisions,” he added. The meeting was attended by Apni Party leaders including Ex-MLA from Hiranagar Prem Lal, Ex-MLA from Doda Ghulam Qadir Wani, Provincial President Women Wing Namrita Sharma, SC State Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat, OBC State Coordinator Madan Lal Chalotra, Shanker Singh Chib, Saleem Choudhary, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, Anayatullah, Subash, Surdeesh Rana, Sohan Singh Soni, RK Lalotra, Vaibhav Mattoo, Sansar Chand, Sikander, Advocate Raghuvir Singh, Tajinder Singh and J.P Singh.
