STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) sleuths on Thursday foiled a narco smuggling bid by arresting two smugglers and seizing 1,200 Kg poppy straw from their possession. As per the details, information was received by Anti Narcotic Task Force regarding some contrabands being transported from Kashmir to Jammu in a truck (JK18- 4311). Acting on it, a surprise Naka was laid and aforesaid truck was intercepted on Narwal Bypass Highway. On search of the vehicle, huge quantity of poppy straw which was concealed under the empty plastic crates was recovered which weighed to be about 1,200 Kg. Truck along with poppy straw was seized and driver Mohd Afzal Khan, son of Ab Gani Khan, resident of Handoora, Tral Pulwama and helper Momin, son of Gulam Hassan Chopan, resident of Medoora,Tral, Pulwama were arrested. An FIR under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered and ANTF is investigating further details including forward and backward linkages of this interstate gang. UT Government has recently ordered the creation of Anti Narcotic Task Force, a new wing of Crime Branch, to deal with rising problem of drugs and narcotics.
