STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Opposing establishment of one more Toll plaza in Jammu region at Lakhanpur, the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) General Secretary, Anita Thakur on Saturday said that few years ago, Jammu city was famous for temples and was popularly known as ‘City of Temples’, but right from the day BJP has taken over the reins, first in State and then in Union territory of J&K, Jammu is being converted into ‘City of Toll plazas’, as people of Jammu got Ban toll plaza as first gift from State Govt, followed by Sarore toll plaza and now Lakhanpur toll plaza. Through sources, we came to know that very soon they will present us another gift in shape of new toll plaza going to be installed near Akhnoor, said Anita. Demanding immediate extirpation of these toll plazas, Anita warned that if these toll plazas were not removed people of Jammu region will show their power during election by casting votes against BJP. “Contracts of these Toll plazas have been awarded to so-called Gunda elements of Jammu region so that none can raise voice against them and all those who dare to raise voice against administration for extirpation of toll plazas, are threatened by these Gunda elements,” she asserted. She further said that J&K has already been passing through critical times. Instead of taking steps to revive growth, the government is bent to demolish the existing system, as new toll plaza will have a direct check on growth and development of J&K, she maintained.
