SPORTS REPORTER JAMMU: Splendid performance by Ananya Sharma of J&K, who scalped five important wickets, helped J&K beat Meghalaya by seven wickets in the Under-23 women’s limited overs game at Ravenshaw University Ground-2 at Cuttack thus earned all four points. As per the reports reaching here, Meghalaya won the toss and elected to bat first and could score only 85 runs. Ananya of J&K, who is just 14 years, wreaked havoc on the Meghalaya batswomen and bagged five important wickets by conceding just 34 runs. Ananya did not allow any batswomen to settle down and the whole side of Meghalaya was bundled out at a paltry total of just 85 runs. Sadia Wani, Heena Kouser, Rifat Choudhary and Nadia Chowdhary took one wicket each. Chasing the total, J&K started innings on a cautious note and achieved the target of 86 runs in 31.5 overs losing three wickets. Tanisha Sharma scored 29 off 74 while Rudrakshi Chib scored 22 off 85 balls. Nadia Chowdhary and Bismah Hassan played unbeaten innings of 10 and nine runs respectively. Impressed with the performance of Ananya Sharma with the ball, the match officials presented her a ball as a gift.
