STATE TIMES NEWS AKHNOOR: The sensational case of setting on fire a wine shop along with the salesman at Ranjan, Gharota was solved by the police with the arrest of seven accused. Briefing media persons, SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma said that on July 3, 2019, an information was received at Police Station Gharota that three persons namely Tarsem Singh alias Gian Singh; Pawan Singh alias Budhi, both sons of Surinder Singh and Dhaneter Singh alias Shusha, son of Tej Singh, all residents of Ranjan Tehsil Bhalwal District Jammu came in front of Rakesh Wine Shop located at Ranjan with criminal intention and threw a bucket of petrol and grass inside the shop as a result the shop caught fire and salesmen present inside the shop namely Ankur Rajput, Pritam Chand and Sahil Rishi received severe burn injuries. “The injured were shifted to GMC Jammu by the locals who also deposed that some more persons in addition to the aforementioned were involved in the commission of crime. All the accused persons fled from the spot on motorcycles”, the SDPO informed. He said that soon after receiving information, Head Constable Mohd Anwar from Police Station Gharota was deputed to GMC Jammu for recording the statements of injured. “The statement of Tara Singh, son of Kesar Singh, resident of Ranjan Tehsil Bhalwal-Jammu who was present near wine shop at the time of incident and also received burn injuries was also recorded. On his statement, case vide FIR No. 45/2019 under Sections 436, 307 and 120-B RPC and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Gharota”, the SDPO said and added, “Taking serious note of heinous/barbaric incident the senior officers including DIG JSK Range Jammu and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh issued directions to the concerned SP Rural Suram Singh and SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma to establish the camps at Police Station Gharota”. “SHO Police Station Gharota also reached the GMC Jammu and subsequently the statements of injured were recorded. Meanwhile, Ankur Rajput was shifted to DMC Ludhiana for specialized treatment. meanwhile, police parties were sent in the adjoining areas of Akhnoor sub-division to arrest the accused persons. During treatment at DMC Ludhiana, Ankur Rajput succumbed to his injuries on July 5, 2019 and his body was brought to GMC Jammu for postmortem and was handed over to his legal heirs after the completion of all legal formalities”, the SDPO informed. “Accused Tarsem Singh was arrested on the day of crime from Akhnoor area and accused persons Dhanantar Singh and Anil Kumar were arrested on July 4, 2019 while accused Pawan Singh alias Budhi, son of Surinder Singh, and Vijay Singh alias Biju alias Shingari, son of Harjit Singh, residents of Ranjan Tehsil Bhalwal Jammu were arrested on July 5, 2019. Similarly accused Jaggater Singh alias Sanju, son of Balwan Singh, resident of Ranjan Tehsil Bhalwal Jammu was arrested on July 9, 2019 from SMVD University Road Katra”, the police officer said adding that accused Janak Raj alias Janka, son of Sat Pal resident of Ranjan Tehsil Bhalwal was arrested on July 16, 2019 from the area falling under Police Station Gund, District Ganderbal, Kashmir. “During the investigation, four motorcycles and one sword were also seized”, he added.
