STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, A.K Choudhary on Friday felicitated the Pencak Silat players of J&K Police for winning two gold, two silver and two bronze medals in 4th Pencak Silat Federation Cup 2019-20. While congratulating the players, the ADGP hailed the hard work and dedication of the concerned supervisory officers and coaches for refining the talent of JKP sportsperson and hoped that the players shall earn more honour for Jammu and Kashmir police in future. He said that DGP J&K Dilbag Singh is keen to hone the talent of police personnel in different sports and the department shall provide all the required facilities to the players in order to make them proficient in their respective fields. Among six J&K Police Pencak Silat players who participated in the Federation Cup-2020, Abdul Hamid Bhat and Ravees Ahmad of senior group who presented J&K Police in 81-85 Kgs and 86-90 Kgs weight categories respectively each won gold medal in Tanding event. Tahir Maqbool Lone and Rameez Ahmad Mir of senior group in 71-75 Kgs and 51-55 Kgs weight category respectively each won silver medal in Tanding event. However Abdul Rashid Lone and Mohammad Ummer Reshi of senior group competed in weight category of 71-75 kgs and each won a bronze medal in Tanding event. The Pencak Silat Federation Cup-2019-20 organised by Maharashtra Pencak Silat Association was held at Nashik, Maharashtra from February 7 to 10, 2020. A total of 28 states and five police teams including J&K police, Punjab Police, Haryana Police, UP Police and Maharashtra Police participated in the aforesaid national event. Maharashtra State has got first position while J&K and Utter Pradesh teams have got second and third positions respectively. However among police teams J&K Police has got first position while UP Police and Haryana Police have got second and third positions respectively.
