STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) produced chargesheet against Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Bhat, resident of Noorpora Tral, presently staying at Post Office Land Hyderpora Srinagar, a Junior Engineer of PHE, in disproportionate assets case.As per an official spokesperson, the chargesheet was presented before the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Srinagar in a case registered vide FIR No. 31/2012 under Section 5(1) (e) read with 5(2) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Samvat 2006 against then Junior Engineer, PHE Division Shopian.He further said that instant case was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir (now ACB) on outcome of a secret enquiry against accused Bashir Ahmad Bhat JE, for indulging in corrupt and illegal practices and amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. The enquiry revealed that accused had constructed a palatial house at Post Office Lane Hyderpora, a house at Sidhra Jammu and few houses at Noorpora Tral approximately costing Rs 1.50 crore. The suspect has also purchased Horticulture/Agriculture land and is in possession of movable assets including one i10 Hyundai and a Maruti 800 cars.The assets found in possession during secret enquiry were apparently found disproportionate to known sources of the income of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Junior Engineer. The facts, thus disclosed during secret enquiry, constitute offences punishable under Section 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 and accordingly a case vide FIR No.31/2012 under aforementioned sections of law was registered at Police Station ACB and investigation was taken up, he added.The spokesperson further said that investigation of the case was concluded as proved against aforementioned accused. Chargesheet (Challan) against the aforementioned accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Srinagar for judicial determination and next date of hearing has been fixed on November 25, 2020.
