STATE TIMES NEWSAKHNOOR: Former Minister and BJP leader, Sham Lal Sharma lauded the Central Government for taking a bold and historic step by abrogating the Article 370 from J&K. While addressing party workers here on Wednesday, former minister termed repealing of Article 370 as a welcome step, for which the people of State were suffering since long. With abrogation of Article 370, all regions of the State will get equal justice without any type of discrimination, he said. Youth of Jammu suffered too much as far as employment sector was concerned as major portion of employment was always given to Kashmiri youth, he added. Sham expressed happiness that both the Houses of Parliament passed the resolution after a thorough discussion. While it was passed with two-third majority in Rajya Sabha, it secured the support of four-fifth members in Lok Sabha. “It speaks about wishes of the people of country and mood of the country,” he said. The former Minister further said that by giving UT status to Jammu and Kashmir, there will be no discrimination in J&K as now Kashmir-centric leaders will not have any say in allotment of funds. Moreover, it will also result in speedy development of Jammu region, he added. Sham said there will be political reservation for STs in the Assembly, which will provide them an opportunity to highlight the issues of their respective areas for speedy development. Representatives of these communities are very much happy and expressing gratitude towards the Government led by BJP, he asserted. Sham further exhorted upon the workers to maintain social harmony besides keeping social fabric intact as the country’s unity is in diversity. “With abrogation of Article 370, the DPs from West Pakistan and Valmiki community, who were deprived of various rights till date, will now get right to exercise their franchise in the Assembly elections besides applying for various government jobs against reservation and general quota,” said Sham, adding, “Before abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, girls belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, if marry an outsider, were deprived of their rights on parents’ property unlike others but now with abrogation of article 370, all their rights have been restored.” Later, Sham Lal Sharma distributed National Flags amongst party workers and asked them to unfurl them at their homes and other prominent places in their areas on Independence Day. He also extended his greetings to them on Independence Day.
