Omkar DattatrayThe five member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court deserves all credit and kudos for the judgment on Ram janamboomi-Babri Masjed case. It is a historical verdict in the independent Indians judicial history. The decision is a reflection on the Hindu-Muslim unity and is the triumph of India’s secularism and its plural ethos. It reflects on the diversity of India and the decision is a welcome development. The historical judgment was given by consensus of the five learned judges of the apex court and it will further the communal amity and mutual brotherhood in our plural and tolerant society. It is a balanced decision and it favors’ both Hindus and Muslims and treats them equally. The verdict is neither a triumph of Hindus nor Muslims but it is the vindication of India’s secularism and its unity in diversity and thus is accepted and honoured by both the communities. It should not be taken as a win or defeat by any of the parties but it is the win of whole India, India’s thought and its cultural heritage. The disputed land is given to Hindus and to be more specific the land was given to Ram Lalla Virajman being the birth place of Lord Ram and the court has said that there is no dispute about the birth of Ram at Ayodhya and the Muslim claimants could not prove its exclusive claim on the disputed land. Thus supreme court has given the disputed land to Hindus for construction of the Ram temple and has asked the central government to frame a trust within three months for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya. The court has directed the central government and the UP government to give five acres of land in Ayodhya outside the birth place of Lord Ram for the construction of the mosque. In fact this decision has been given after the 134 years of legal battle and is the end of the 500 years old dispute. The decision of the supreme court will pave way for the Hindu -Muslim unity and brotherhood as it is the verdict in favor of mutual co-existence and good will and thus should be welcomed by both Hindus and Muslims. On the ground the verdict was in fact welcomed by all cutting across religious affiliations and is the triumph of India and the values for which India stands for centuries. There are no losers and winners in this decision and both Hindus and Muslims should demonstrate patience, tolerance and the political parties should not politicize the historical judgment and it is the responsibility of the people that they should not allow the political leaders and parties to politicize the decision of far reaching importance. This controversial issue has been resolved by the top court through its unanimous decision and this is an extra-ordinary decision which has solved an important and long dispute which was the cause of Hindu-Muslim strife and discord. The important verdict has sealed the scope of Hindu-Muslim discord and the decision is a big milestone in the judicial history of the country and Hindu-Muslim unity. There is no need to celebrate on this decision and if anything is to be celebrated, it is the win of secularism and cultural diversity and not the winning or losing by the parties concerned as there is no win and defect for either Hindus or Muslims but it is the win of India’s secularism and mutual co-existence and should be celebrated in such a way that secularism and diversity is strengthened. This decision will further develop the scope of communal amity and harmony in our diverse society for which India is famous world over. Now it is hoped that both the parties will accept this judgment and welcome it with open arms. There are little chances of success of the review petition if filed as its scope is little given the balanced verdict by unanimous consent of all five judges of the constitutional bench of the top court There is urgent need to maintain communal amity and mutual brotherhood for the good of all of us. Once again thanks and congratulations to the free and unbiased judiciary of India. Hats off to the independent judiciary and the jury. Let us celebrate the triumph of secularism and India’s unity in diversity which is the greatest treasure of India. Let Ram and Rahim guide us towards truth and goodness and for the building of new India. The important verdict establishes the fact that Indian democracy is strong, dynamic and alive and capable of solving complex problems with determination and strong will under the ambit and guidance of the constitution. PM Narendera Modi has said in the live telecast that now the decision has been pronounced and all the people should make efforts for building a new India. He further said that all the people should unite and march in unison for building new India and no section should be left out and isolated. We should follow the teachings of Lord Ram who had given the message of peace and brotherhood. Ours is an assimilative culture and thus we should accommodate all and build new India of 21st century so that India shines in the globe with its unity in diversity which is its beauty and uniqueness and must be preserved at all cost.
