UDHAMPUR: Two narcotic smugglers were arrested and 711 kg of poppy straw was seized in separate incidents in Udhampur district on Tuesday, police said.
Reports revealed that SOG Jammu laid a special Naka with the sleuths of Police Station Udhampur at Udhampur. One truck (JKO3D 7707 ) was made to stop which was coming from Kashmir towards Jammu and cops arrested one narcotic smuggler who was smuggling the 365 kilograms poppy straw concealed in bags in the truck. The truck driver has been identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Dharampal, resident of Gandhi Camp H. No B/2/80/6 Jalandhar and a case vide FIR No 570/2019 under section 8/15 NDPS Act stand registered at Police Station Udhampur.
In another operation , SOG Jammu and a party of Udhampur during Naka checking at Jakheni intercepted one truck (PB32E 7299) driven by driver namely Lucky, son of Anayat Massi, resident of Chitta Pindh District Jalandhar Punjab and recovered 346 kg poppy straw from the truck.
A case vide FIR no.571/2019 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Udhampur. The whole operation was monitored closely by SSP Operations Jammu Sandeep Mehta and was supervised by SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey.
