STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Police on Thursday foiled three different bids by rescuing 61 bovines and arrested seven smugglers. SSP Rajiv Pandey while giving details said that a party of Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Udhampur Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of Dy SP Rohit Chadgal and Addl. SP Rajinder Singh Katoch laid a Naka for checking of vehicles at Jakhani Chowk on NH Udhampur. During checking, police intercepted two trucks (JK19-4655 and JK02AQ-7781) and rescued 41 bovines which were laden in them. Three smugglers identified as Mohd. Raqeeb, son of Sayeed Ali, resident of Anantnag; Javed Ahmed, son of Shamasdin, resident of Ramban and Ashiq Ali, son of Mussa resident of Krimchi Udhampur were arrested and a case under relvant section of law was registered against them. While Roun Domail police led by SI Jasvinder Singh foiled another bid by rescuing three bovines which were taken on foot by smugglers towards Kashmir. Three persons identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd. Washington, resident of Mario Udhampur; Sanjay Sharma, son of Khem Raj, resident of Nagoulta Tehsil Chenani District Udhampur and Mohd. Rashid, son of Mohd. Main, resident of Narsoo Udhampur were arrested. Similarly, Rehambal, police party led by SHO Ajay Bhat laid Naka at NH near Flata in Udhampur. During checking, police observed suspect movement with crowd of 17 bovines, which were being taken on foot by smugglers without any valid permission towards Kashmir. Police rescue all the bovines and arrested a smuggler identified as Mohd. Khalid, son of Mohd. Iqbal, resident of Nandini, Jammu while his two associate manage to flee from spot.
