STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH: The 550th Prakash Purav of founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated across region with great enthusiasm and religious fervour. In Poonch, the Gurpurab was celebrated in Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Sant Pura Nangali Sahib Poonch. After the accomplishment of Shri Akhand Path, Gurbani Kirtan was recited by Hazoori Ragi of Darbar Sahib Amritsar Jabarjeet Singh and other local Raagi Jathas. Prof Narinder Singh President District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee welcomed Mahant Manjit Singh, Commander 93 Inf Bde Munish Gupta, ex-MLC Pradeep Sharma, ex-MLC Jehangir Mir, DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav and SSP Romesh Angral and honoured them with Saropas. The speakers on this occasion threw light on the life and contributions of Guru Nanak Dev towards humanity. Large number of Sangat from all walks of life and prominent persons participated in the celebrations. Guru Ka Langar was served on this occasion.
NOWSHERA : The main function for celebration of 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev was held in Gurdwara Singh Sabha Nowshera. Raagi Jatha of Bhai Santokh Singh from Mukerian recited Gurbani Kirtan and Bhai Satnam Singh from Rajpura explained the life history of Guru Nanak. Guru Ka Langar was also served.
UDHAMPUR: Like other parts of the country the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety here at Singh Sabha Gurdwara. District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla visited Singh Sabha Gurdwara and paid obeisance. He prayed for peace and communal harmony in the district. While interacting with the Sangat, the DDC congratulated the people of the district and hoped that the auspicious day will bring peace and prosperity in their life. He said that such religious occasions strengthen the bond of love and brotherhood among different sections of the society.
Meanwhile, Cyclists of UB Randonneur, Udhampur were felicitated with a Saropa and medals by Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Udhampur. Two cyclists Mineesh Gulati and Pardeep Sharma covered the distance of around 700 Km in 3 days during cycle Yatra to commemorate 550 years of Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Ustav. They visited Golden Temple and Gurdwara Ber Sahib at Sultanpur Lodhi and came back. Other cyclists namely Harpreet Singh, Rahil Gupta, Rohit Gupta and Amarjeet Singh participated in 550 Km cycling challenge and completed it successfully. On the occasion, SSP Udhampur congratulated all the cyclists of UB Randonneur. On 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak, members of NGO ‘Jiyo Aur Jeene Do ‘ organised a programme at Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha Udhampur in which the members distributed plant saplings. NGO President Tariq Shah, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Pawan Khajuria and the members Sohan Raj, Ritupriya, Kewal Gupta Krishna, Sahil and Dalvinder were also present.
BHADARWAH: Sikh community members thronged Gurdwaras to participate in the celebration of Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Birth Anniversary on Tuesday. The main function was organized at Kotli Gurdwara by Distt Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) Doda under the supervision of its District President Kartar Singh in which devotees from Bhadarwah and its peripheral areas participated with religious fervour. Hindus and Muslims also greeted Sikh community on occasion and took part in the celebration. While speaking on the occasion, Navjot Kour, Member Gurdwara Committee Bhadarwah said, “Guru Nanak’s philosophy mainly stressed on one God-who is creator, sustainer and destroyer. Goal of human life is to break the cycle of birth and death to merge with God.” Langar was also served. Meanwhile, 2IC CRPF 33 Battalion, Neeraj Tyagi along with officers and jawans also participated in the celebration and greeted people on the auspicious occasion of 550th Birth Anniversary of first Sikh Guru and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the State. Prominent among those who were present during the celebration include Manorma Kour, Sanjay Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Narinder Kumar, Rekha Kour, Vijay Kotwal, Sunil Singh, Aruna Kour, Seva Devi, Dimple Devi, Geeta Devi and others.
