State Times News UDHAMPUR: Police on Thursday detained three drug peddlers and recovered 178 Kg poppy straw from their possession. Giving details Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur said that a party of Police Station Udhampur led by Insp. Vijay Singh Choudhary SHO under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch Addl. SP Udhampur and Dr. Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs. Udhampur laid a Naka at Jakhani, NH Udhampur. During checking, police intercepted one truck (PB 13Y 5651) for checking and recovered 125 Kg of poppy straw from it. The accused driver namely Sarwan Singh, son of Bir Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab along with Jovanpreet Singh, son of Satnam Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab were arrested and a case vide FIR No. 213/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station Udhampur. In another case, police party of Police Station Rehambal led by Insp. Virender Gupta SHO under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch Addl. SP Udhampur and Dr. Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs. Udhampur while patrolling near Malhar, intercepted one tractor (JK14 D 0719 ) for checking. During checking, police recovered 53 Kg of poppy straw from the accused person namely Radhey Sham alias Munna, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Malhar Riiti, Rehambal. A case FIR No. 70/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rehambal.
