1,329 fresh COVID-19 cases in J&K, tally rises to 56,654; 19 more die

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 1,329 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, raising the infection count to 56,654, while the death toll reached 914 with 19 more fatalities, officials said.
It was for the 13th consecutive day that the number of fresh cases crossed 1,000 in a 24-hour period.

India’s COVID-19 caseload races past 50 lakh

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 caseload raced past the 50-lakh mark on Tuesday night, just 11 days after it crossed 40 lakh, while the total number of recoveries too surged to 39,26,096, according to data from states and union territories. The Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday 8 am showed single-day spike of 83,809 infections, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to 49,30,236, while the death toll climbed to 80,776 with 1,054 people succumbing to the disease in a day.
However, by night, a PTI tally showed India’s COVID-19 caseload at 50,05,963, death toll at 81,989 and recoveries at 39,26,096. The tally has been compiled as per information provided by the states and union territories.

The UT recorded 1,329 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — 741 in the Jammu region and 588 in the Kashmir valley,” the officials said.
The cumulative figure of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has now risen to 56,654.
Of the fresh cases, Jammu district reported the highest at 254, followed by 148 in Srinagar district, the officials said.
There are 18,678 active cases of coronavirus in the UT as of now, while 37,062 patients have recovered, they said.
A total of 19 deaths took place in the past 24 hours — 14 in the Jammu region and five in the Valley — taking the toll to 914, the officials said.
According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 56,654 positive cases, 18,678 are Active Positive, 37,062 have recovered and 914 have died; 174 in Jammu division and 740 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 12,70,310 test results available, 12,13,656 samples have been tested as negative till September 15, 2020.
Till date 5,27,802 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 34,530 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18,678 in isolation and 60,298 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,13,382 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,942 positive cases (including 148 cases reported today) with 1,903 Active Positive, 9,784 recovered (including 170 cases recovered today), 255 deaths; Baramulla has 3,517 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 958 Active Positive, 2,445 recovered (including 30 cases reported today), 114 deaths; Pulwama reported 3,274 positive cases (including 70 cases reported today) with 490 active positive cases, 2,722 recovered (including 40 cases recovered today), 62 deaths; Kulgam has 2,108 positive cases (including 15 cases reported today) with 134 Active Positive, 1,934 recoveries (including 13 cases recovered today), 40 deaths; Shopian has 1,892 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 160 Active Positive, 1,703 recovered (including 12 cases recovered today), 29 deaths; Anantnag district has 2,976 positive cases (including 57 cases reported today) with 726 Active Positive, 2,196 recovered (including 37 cases recovered today), 54 deaths; Budgam has 3,947 positive cases (including 127 cases reported today) with 1,477 Active Positive and 2,397 recovered (including 43 cases recovered today), 73 deaths; Kupwara has 2,906 positive cases (including 43 cases reported today) with 933 Active Positive, 1,915 recovered (including 29 cases recovered today), 58 deaths; Bandipora has 2,921 positive cases (including 38 cases reported today) with 952 Active Positive, 1,940 recovered (including 08 cases recovered today), 29 deaths and Ganderbal has 2,205 positive cases (including 59 cases reported today) with 537 active positive cases, 1,642 recoveries (including 85 cases recovered today) and 26 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 8,998 positive cases (including 254 cases reported today) with 6,017 active positive cases, 2,882 recoveries (including 85 cases recovered today), 99 deaths; Rajouri has 1,626 positive cases (including 105 cases reported today) with 752 active positive cases, 856 recovered (including 26 cases recovered today), 18 deaths; Ramban has 865 positive cases (including 26 cases reported today) with 209 active positive, 653 recoveries, 3 death; Kathua has 1,422 positive cases (including 62 cases reported today) with 485 Active positive, 924 recovered (including 26 cases recovered today), 13 deaths; Udhampur has 1,559 positive cases (including 51 cases reported today) with 700 active positive cases, 853 recovered (including 8 cases recovered today), 6 deaths; Samba has 1,135 positive cases (including 31 cases reported today) with 500 Active Positive, 627 recoveries, 8 deaths; Doda has 1,053 positive cases (including 114 cases reported today) with 576 active positive cases, 462 recoveries (including 24 cases reported today), 15 deaths; Poonch has 995 positive cases (including 38 cases reported today) with 557 active positive, 432 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered today), 6 deaths; Reasi has 632 positive cases (including 15 cases reported today) with 255 active positive, 374 recoveries and 3 deaths while Kishtwar has 681 positive cases (including 45 cases reported today) with 357 active positive cases and 321 recoveries (including 35 cases recovered today) and 3 deaths. Of the total 56,654 positive cases in J&K, 7,860 have been reported as travelers while 48,794 as others, the bulletin added.
