70-yr-old COVID-19 patient dies in Srinagar, death toll rises to 28 in UT
STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: With detection of 128 new cases of novel coronavirus– 36 in Jammu division and 92 in Kashmir – on Friday, the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir reached 2,164. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir Division. According to daily Media Bulletin, 1,261 out of total 2,164 cases are Active Positive, 875 have recovered and 28 have died with passing away of one more patient last evening. A 70-year-old man from Shopian district died due to COVID-19, officials said. The man from Aliarpora, Bagander area of Shopian, in south Kashmir, was admitted to SMHS hospital on Wednesday as a patient of pneumonia with underlying hypertension and diabetes mellitus, the officials said. The patient died on Thursday evening and his sample was taken for COVID-19 test, the officials said, adding that his report came positive on Friday.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1,56,010 test results available, 153846 samples have been tested as negative till May 29, 2020. Additionally, till date 1,58,773 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 34,495 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 54 in Hospital Quarantine, 1,261 in hospital isolation and 41,525 under home surveillance. Besides, 81,410 persons have completed their surveillance period. Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 145 positive cases with 12 Active Positive, 132 recovered, one death; Srinagar has 246 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 111 Active Positive, 128 recovered (including two cases recovered today), seven deaths; Anantnag district has 295 positive cases (including six cases reported today), with 170 Active Positive, 120 recovered, five deaths; Baramulla has 177 positive cases (including eight cases reported today) with 70 Active Positive, 102 recovered (including four cases recovered today), five deaths; Shopian has 152 positive cases (including one case reported today) with 44 Active Positive, 107 recovered and one death; Kupwara has 255 positive cases (including 18 case reported today) with 181 Active Positive, 74 recovered (including four cases recovered today); Budgam has 89 positive cases, with 35 Active Positive and 52 recovered cases (including one case recovered today) and two deaths; Ganderbal has 31 positive cases with seven Active cases and 24 recoveries; Kulgam has 273 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today), with 246 Active Positive and 23 recoveries and four deaths and Pulwama reported 65 positive cases (including 13 cases reported today) with 53 active positive and 12 recovered. Similarly, Jammu has 128 positive cases (including seven cases reported today) with 89 active positive cases and 37 recoveries (including one case recovered today) and two deaths; Udhampur has 52 positive cases (including one cases reported today) with 29 active positive cases, 22 recovered and one death; Samba has 34 positive cases (including two cases reported today) with 24 Active Positive and 10 recoveries; Rajouri has 21 positive cases (including six cases reported today) with 16 active positive cases and five recovered (including one case recovered today); Kathua has 65 positive cases (including six cases reported today) with 46 Active positive and 19 recovered (including three cases recovered today); Kishtwar has eight positive case with seven active positive cases and one recovered; Ramban has 75 positive cases with 72 active positive and three recoveries; Reasi has 13 positive cases with 10 active positive and three recovered, Poonch has 38 active positive cases (including 14 cases reported today) while Doda has two positive cases with one active positive case and one recovered.
