RAJOURI: Police on Tuesday foiled two bovine smuggling
bids by rescuing 15 animals from possession of smugglers.
As per a police official, a
team from Thannamandi Police Station headed by SHO Fareed Ahmed under the
supervision of SDPO Sajjad Khan intercepted a smuggler, who was trying to smuggle
bovines to valley via Mughal Road from Mangota link road. “Eight bovines were rescued and smuggler,
identified as Shokit Hussain, son of Mohammad Bashir, resident of Khablan was
arrested on the spot. A case vide FIR No. 135/2020 under Sections 188 IPC and
11 PCA Act has been registered in this regard,” he added.
Similarly, during Naka
checking, Police signaled a Tata Mobile, which was on way to Rajouri from
Sunderbani, to stop but the driver broke the Naka and accelerated the vehicle.
He was chased by the police team headed by SHO Dharamsal Rajinder Sharma. At
some distance, the vehicle was found parked on roadside, with 7 bovines loaded
in it, while the driver fled away. The bovines were rescued and vehicle bearing
registration No. JK20 5057 was seized. A
case vide No. FIR 57/20 under Sections 188 IPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered
in Dharamsal Police Station.
