STATE TIMES NEWSSrinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 1,141 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day pushing the tally to 72,190 on Sunday, while seven fatalities during the same period took the death toll to 1,132, officials said.It was for the 25th consecutive day that the number of fresh cases has crossed 1000 in 24 hours.“The Union Territory recorded 1,141 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — with 689 in Jammu and 452 in the Kashmir Valley,” an official said.Jammu district reported the highest number of 324 new cases, followed by 181 in Srinagar district, he said.There are 18,199 active coronavirus cases, while 52,859 patients have recovered so far, they said, adding of the fresh deaths, three were reported in Jammu and four in the Valley.According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 72,190 positive cases, 18,199 are Active Positive, 52,859 have recovered and 1,132 have died; 309 in Jammu division and 823 in Kashmir division.
India’s COVID-19 tally of cases crosses 60-lakh markNew Delhi: India’s COVID-19 caseload sprinted past the 60 lakh on Sunday night, 12 days after it crossed the 50-lakh mark, while the total number of recoveries too surged to 50,02,959, according to data from states and union territories.The Union health ministry data updated on Sunday 8 am showed a single-day spike of 88,600 infections, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally of cases to 59,92,532, while the death toll climbed to 94,503 with 1,124 people succumbing to the disease in a day. However, by night, a PTI tally showed India’s COVID-19 caseload at 60,66,061, death toll at 95,466 and recoveries at 50,03,084. The tally has been compiled according to information provided by the states and union territories.India is in pole position in terms of the number of recoveries, followed by Brazil and the US, according to the Johns Hopkins University (JHU), which has been compiling COVID-19 data from all over the world.India is the second-worst hit nation in terms of COVID-19 cases after the US, while it is in the third spot in terms of fatalities globally after the US and Brazil, according to JHU data.The Union health ministry on Sunday said a total of 49,41,627 people have recuperated from coronavirus infection taking the national recovery rate to 82.46 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded at 1.58 per cent.There are 9,56,402 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprise 15.96 per cent of the total caseload, the health ministry data showed.
The Bulletin further said that out of 15,63,309 test results available, 14,91,119 samples have been tested as negative till September 27, 2020.Till date 5,68,416 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,230 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18,199 in isolation and 51,081 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,82,774 persons have completed their surveillance period.Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 14,385 positive cases (including 181 cases reported today) with 2,175 Active Positive, 11,923 recovered (including 162 cases recovered today), 287 deaths; Baramulla has 4,249 positive cases (including 34 cases reported today) with 1,241 Active Positive, 2,886 recovered (including 35 cases recovered today), 122 deaths; Pulwama reported 3,852 positive cases (including 35 cases reported today) with 461 active positive cases, 3324 recovered (including 56 cases recovered today), 67 deaths; Kulgam has 2,252 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 137 Active Positive, 2,072 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today), 43 deaths; Shopian has 2,013 positive cases (including 13 cases reported today) with 193 Active Positive, 1,789 recovered (including 4 cases reported today), 31 deaths; Anantnag district has 3474 positive cases (including 30 cases reported today) with 451 Active Positive, 2,961 recovered (including 07 cases recovered today), 62 deaths; Budgam has 4,764 positive cases (including 61 cases reported today) with 1,116 Active Positive and 3567 recovered (including 119 cases recovered today), 81 deaths; Kupwara has 3,495 positive cases (including 45 cases reported today) with 796 Active Positive, 2,633 recovered (including 56 cases recovered today), 66 deaths; Bandipora has 3,352 positive cases (including 33 cases reported today) with 671 Active Positive, 2,645 recovered (including 40 cases recovered today), 36 deaths and Ganderbal has 2,831 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 495 active positive cases, 2308 recoveries (including 83 cases recovered today) and 28 deaths.Similarly, Jammu has 12,012 positive cases (including 324 cases reported today) with 3,778 active positive cases, 8,067 recoveries (including 411 cases recovered today), 167 deaths; Rajouri has 2,513 positive cases (including 49 cases reported today) with 1256 active positive cases, 1,227 recovered (including 132 cases recovered today), 30 deaths; Ramban has 1,294 positive cases (including 21 cases reported today) with 459 active positive, 827 recoveries (including 13 cases recovered today), 08 deaths; Kathua has 1,985 positive cases (including 51 cases reported today) with 577 Active positive, 1,387 recovered (including 53 cases recovered today), 21 deaths; Udhampur has 2,125 positive cases (including 36 cases reported today) with 454 active positive cases, 1,657 recovered (including 74 cases recovered today), 14 deaths; Samba has 1,665 positive cases (including 38 cases reported today) with 777 Active Positive, 869 recoveries (including 35 cases recovered today), 19 deaths; Doda has 2,148 positive cases (including 41 cases reported today) with 1,188 active positive cases, 934 recoveries (including 64 cases recovered today), 26 deaths; Poonch has 1,716 positive cases (including 46 cases reported today) with 1,012 active positive, 692 recoveries (including 9 cases reported today), 12 deaths; Reasi has 916 positive cases (including 39 cases reported today) with 379 active positive, 532 recoveries (including 2 cases reported today), and 05 deaths while Kishtwar has 1,149 positive cases (including 44 cases reported today) with 583 active positive cases and 559 recoveries (including 04 cases reported today) and 7 deaths.According to the bulletin, of the total 72,190 positive cases in J&K 8,598 have been reported as travelers while 63,592 as others.
