STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: The executive committee of Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee took stock of the preparations for annual Mahayagya and other development issues. In the meeting held here on Monday, the members said that this year the birthday of Mata Zeashta falling on May 23, 2019 and as per the practice the annual Mahayagya was slated to be performed on May 22 and 23, 2019. However due to the scheduling of May 23, 2019 as counting day for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and the counting center being in the vicinity of the temple i.e, the SKICC (Hotel Centaur) Srinagar, the entire area from Dalgate Road and Gupkar Road /Nishat road are likely to be sealed due to security reasons. “It may not be possible for the Yatris/devotees to reach Zeathyar on May 23, 2019. Keeping in view the situation and in order to enable the devotees to attend in large numbers it was unanimously decided by the Executive Committee to slightly reschedule the Mahayagya from May 22 to May 25, 2019 with Prasad Vitran on May 26, 2019 (Saturday and Sunday). However the birthday of Mata i.e, May 23, 2019 shall be celebrated on its due date viz May 23 with all its grace and gaiety and routine Bhajan and Kirtan,” a handout issued by the Committee said. The meeting also decided that Yatris visiting the shrine complex during annual Mahayagya will be provided with free boarding and lodging facilities from May 25 to 27, 2019 and free shuttle service of vehicles will be provided to Yatris from jetty point to temple and back on the Hawan day. Those of the devotees who intend to participate in the Birthday of Mata Zeashta/Annual Mahayagya are requested to intimate their journey plan in advance so that Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee can make elaborate arrangement for their comfortable stay,” the press release said.
