State Times News JAMMU: Union Minister of State (MoS) in the PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday announced that the youth living along the International Border in the Jammu region too would be entitled for 4 per cent reservation in educational institutions and jobs on the pattern of those living within 5 km radius of Line of Control. He said he has discussed the issue with the concerned authorities in the State administration and very soon a formal order would be issued. Speaking at a function, Dr Singh said, “All the necessary paper work has been completed in this regard. Since meeting of the State Administrative Council is held every week, the orders would be issued soon”. Dr Jitendra Singh criticised the successive State governments for ignoring the long pending demand of the border residents from Jammu areas. He also demanded a thorough inquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances under which people living along the Line of Control were given these benefits and those living along the International Border were deprived of the same. He said, question should be asked from those who deliberately deprived people living along the International Border of these reservation benefits while sanctioning the same for those living along the Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch.
He blamed the successive governments for discriminating with the people of border areas along the International Border for petty vote bank politics.
